Warranties

The CFA Industrial's warranties detailed here applies to all available hardwood flooring selections; however, the time period of coverage varies based on the specific hardwood flooring style selected. For the specific warranty coverage that applies to each hardwood flooring selection or any other questions regarding warranty coverage should be directed to the flooring subcontractor doing the installation.

DISCLAIMER: These warranties give you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.

 

[General Conditions for CFA Hardwood Flooring Warranties]

[] These warranties applies only to hardwood flooring installed in owner occupied, single family, residential housing.

[] These warranties cover first quality material only. It is not applicable to hardwood flooring sold as cabin grade or other downgraded or discontinued items.

[] These warranties are give only to the original purchaser and are not transferable.

Limited Finish Wear Warranty

CFA Industrial warrants that the finish of CFA hardwood flooring will not wear through as the result of normal household use, within the specified period of warranty coverage (refer to the sample of the hardwood flooring selected for applicable warranty coverage or contact the installing flooring subcontractor).

Limited Finish Adhesion Warranty

CFA Industrial warrants that the finish of CFA hardwood flooring will not wear through as the result of normal household use, within the specified period of warranty coverage (refer to the sample of the hardwood flooring selected for applicable warranty coverage or contact the installing flooring subcontractor).

Limited Manufacturing Defects Warranty

CFA Industrial warrants that CFA hardwood flooring will be free from any defects in materials or workmanship, for as long as the original homeowner owns the home.

Limited Moisture Damage Warranty

CFA Industrial warrants to the original buyer of CFA engineered and longstrip wood flooring products against moisture damage due to topical spills or subfloor moisture under certain conditions for as long as you own your home. Topical spills of normal household substances (food and beverage) must be removed promptly. Topical spills allowed to remain on the floor for any considerable time will damage the floor and void this warranty.

 

[Adhesive Failure Due to Subfloor Moisture Will Be Covered By This Warranty If All The Following Conditions Are Met]

[] The floor is visibly dry immediately prior to installation (3 pounds of water/1000 square feet/24 hours or less).

[] The installation method is the direct glue down method.

[] CFA Professional Choice Adhesive is used to install the engineered wood floor.

[] The installer follows the CFA installation instructions and the instructions specified on the packaging of the CFA Professional Choice Adhesive.

DISCLAIMER: In the event the adhesive fails due to the incursion of subfloor moisture, as a one time courtesy, CFA Industrial will replace the damaged material at no cost to the “buyer”. Only material fee is included in the reimbursement, labor fees are excluded from this warranty, buyer will be responsible for all labor costs involved. Please note that this applies only to engineered and longstrip wood products only.

Limited Visible Defects Warranty

Visible defects are those defects that are apparent on the face of the flooring. They must be noted by the installer and reported before installation so that replacement flooring can be furnished before installation. 
Disclaimer: CFA Industrial's reserve the right to deny claim if we feel that the visiual defect are not due to our manufacturing negligence, but a nautral occurance in the enginerred hardwood flooring selected. 

Limited Separation of Planks Warranty

There is no warranty for Separation of Planks. Separation of planks is the the responsibility of the flooring mechanic, provided there is no glue failure.  Glue failure is the responsibility of the adhesive manufacturer.

Limitations for All CFA Hardwood Flooring Warranties

Improper Installation

CFA Industrial is not responsible for damage to CFA hardwood flooring caused by improper installation, done in a way that is contrary to the specifications.

 

Improper Maintenance or Inadequate Care

CFA Industrial is not responsible for damage to CFA hardwood flooring caused by improper maintenance or inadequate care, which could void all or part of the warranty coverage. Please follow the recommendations described in this brochure under “Hardwood Flooring Care”.

 

Accidents, Abuse, or Abnormal Wear

CFA Industrial is not responsible for damage to CFA hardwood flooring resulting from accidents, abuse, or abnormal wear. Some examples are: damage resulting from accidents or abuses that stain or scratch the finish, diminish gloss, or indent the surface of the wood, and damage caused by heavy or concentrated foot traffic. 

 

Indentations from Stiletto Heels on Shoes

CFA Industrial’s hardwood flooring warranties do not cover damage caused by stiletto heels on shoes. A stiletto heel has a diameter of approximately 3/8”, and can concentrate as much as 2,000 pounds per square inch on the floor. Walking on any wood surface with stiletto heels would be considered an abusive situation.

 

Excessive Sunlight

CFA Industrial’s hardwood flooring warranties do not cover damage or discoloration caused by excessive sunlight or Ultra Violet rays.

 

Problems with Moisture or Dryness

CFA Industrial’s hardwood flooring warranties do not cover damage caused by wetting or the presence of excessive moisture, or by conditions that are too dry.

 

Differences from Samples

CFA Industrial’s hardwood flooring warranties do not cover minor and normal differences in color between the sample used in making the selection and the actual hardwood flooring.

 

Geographic Locale

 These warranties apply only in the United States.

 

Consequential or Incidental Damages

CFA Industrial's excludes and will not pay consequential or incidental damages under these warranties. This means any loss, expense, or damage other than to the hardwood flooring itself that may result from a defect in the hardwood flooring. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the exclusion or limitation may not apply.

Implied Warranties

 No implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability ad fitness for a particular purpose, will extend beyond the specifid terms of coverage of the written CFA Industrial Warranties. By implied warranties, we mean ones that the law presumes to have been given by the seller even though they are not set out in writing. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

Warranty Remedy

The liability of CFA Industrial under these limited warranties shall be limited to the actual cost of repair or replacement of the affected area of hardwood flooring. CFA Industrial reserves the right to correct any defect prior to the hardwood flooring being removed or replaced. If replacement is warranted, CFA Industrial will supply new CFA hardwood flooring material of the same color, and grade, if available; if unavailable or discontinued, CFA Industrial reserves the right to select and supply similar CFA hardwood flooring materials.

 

 

 

Homeowner Obligations Under the CFA Hardwood Flooring Warranties

In order to maintain and protect your coverage under the terms of these warranties, you must do the following:

  1. Keep a record of the hardwood flooring style(s) purchased, the date of the purchase, any applicable invoice(s), and the warranties that apply to the particular hardwood flooring style(s).

  2. Maintain your hardwood flooring according to the recommendations found in the “Care and Maintenance” section of this website

 

 

 

How To File A Claim

If it is believed there may be a defect with the homeowners CFA hardwood flooring and the homeowner wants to file a claim under these warranties, the homeowner must notify the installing flooring subcontractor in writing. Describe the problem you are experiencing with the CFA hardwood flooring, and the flooring subcontractor will take the appropriate action, which may include arranging for a visual inspection. If the homeowner is unable to contact the flooring subcontractor (the builder may be able to provide assistance), write to CFA Industrial to arrange for an inspection and analysis by our authorized representative.
